James (Year 13) is a keen photographer so he was delighted to be invited to Bangor Castle to meet Melanie Grimsley, the subject of Martina Holmberg’s photograph which won the prestigious Taylor Wessing photographic portrait prize.
Melanie’s portrait will be on display in the National Portrait Gallery in London and she met with local pupils to tell them all about surviving an horrific car fire when she was two, living with a visible difference, her work with the UK charity Changing Faces and her journey to becoming more comfortable with and taking ownership of difference.
